This evening we walked down into the valley to the Lewis’ pond. We saw two Canada geese with five little goslings in a long line, with a parent at each end, walk down through the marsh grass to the water, swim smoothly and silently across the pond and climb onto a rock. A privilege to see such a sight! As we came home the sky turned brilliant pink and we stood looking down over the valley – the winding road, the old stone walls, the pond reflecting the pink sky, the green pastures with cows, a thrush singing. How many generations have known this peace!
