Citizen of the Year

One of the time-honored traditions of our newspaper is to recognize a “Citizen of the Year”. The list of individuals, families, and organizations representing 40 years of publication also represents the vast civic participation we have come to expect from the people of Hampton.  A review of this last year shows that we have lost so many who have given so much. Starting with our own Chairman and including one of our town historians, first responders, members of boards and commissions, of religious and civic organizations, guardians of our forests, of our open spaces, residents who have lived among us for as long as we can remember, and some who were born and raised here who contributed to the fabric of our community in immeasurable and unforgettable ways. We honor them and their memory when we follow their examples.

The Citizen of the Year is selected from the recommendations we receive from residents, so let us know who you think personifies the spirit of volunteerism, through their efforts in local organizations, their service to town committees, commissions or boards, or simply by being a “good neighbor”, as evidenced in a single year, or in the contributions of a lifetime.  Please contact any member of the Gazette with your nominations, or send them to:  hamptongazette@yahoo.com, or P. O. Box 101, Hampton, by January 4, 2019.

We look forward to hearing from you, and of the good deeds we might have missed,

The Gazette
